Program Overview

The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is a 4-year undergraduate degree program followed by a 1-year mandatory house job, designed to produce competent dental professionals equipped with the knowledge, skills, and ethical values to serve in clinical, academic, and community settings. The curriculum integrates basic medical sciences with dental sciences, clinical training, research exposure, and professional development.

Clinical Training & Rotations

• Basic medical & dental learning: The first year of BDS introduces foundational subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry, alongside dental-specific courses like Oral Biology and Dental Materials.

• Clinical Exposure: Begins in 2nd year and intensifies in 3rd and 4th year.

• Departments: Operative Dentistry, Prosthodontics, Periodontology, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Oral Pathology, Pediatric Dentistry, Community Dentistry, and more.

• Hands-on Training: Includes chairside learning, patient handling, mobile dental clinics, and diagnostic procedures.

• Rotation Schedule: Structured rotations in all major departments with faculty supervision and logbook maintenance.
