Ibn-e-Sina University, Mirpurkhas (ISUM), is a groundbreaking institution and the first-ever university in the entire Mirpurkhas Division, home to nearly 2.5 million people. It is just not another university, but a very unique one with interesting history. Everything started in February 1999. On 14th February, 1999, there was virtually no scholar with higher diploma in Mirpurkhas division. Today, there are 248 scholars with higher diploma. So in first 50 odd years, there was none, and in next 25 odd years, about 250 scholars with higher diploma were available in Mirpurkhas, all due to setting up of the institutions that make up the ISUM. Muhammad Medical & Dental Colleges (MMC & MDC), Muhammad Institute of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Sciences (MIPRS), Muhammad Institute of Science & Technology (MiST) and Muhammad Institute of Business Administration (MIBA). Today, more than 100 senior teachers of MMC are either its own graduates, or those who have been sponsored by it for postgraduation.

Ibn-e-Sina University, Mirpurkhas (ISUM) has significantly and uniquely transformed the educational landscape and empowered the local community. The university follows a vertically integrated modular system, strengthened by five foundational pillars-SRMLG: “Survive” (weekly tests, assignments, and post-test discussions), “RLSE” – Running Lives by Sharing Experiences (a weekly mentoring program), “MCS” (Mobile Clinics by Students), “LBAS” (Learner-Based Annual Symposia), and “GSAT” (an annual Gastroenterology session with Students as Teachers). Developing systems and working within its its own resources, constraints and dynamics, while following the national and international guidelines and principles has ensured holistic development and excellence in education at ISUM.
