Programs offered by the MBBS section
Scheme of studies:
MBBS is 5-year Degree Programme course. The system of study is integrated modular system with Annual summative assessment.
Program activities are as mentioned below:
i) Instructional strategies and methods: Lectures. CPCs, Clinical group ward teaching; bedside teaching and seminar room discussion. Workshops.
ii) Learning support resources: Library, IT Lab, E-libraries, on-net learning facilities, Multimedia, Skills lab.
iii) Weekly CPCs (Interesting case presentations), Study of patients (History, examination, assessment of investigations and treatment including surgical procedures), weekly MCQ tests, OSCE tests, and weekly assignments.
iv) Both methods of assessments; formative (periodic) and summative (Annual; Main assessment method) are used.
v) Three lectures; each of at least one hour duration are held daily for final year students and among these, five lectures of surgery and its specialties per week are held.
vi) Students are allowed to observe and assist surgical procedures in the operation theaters. One weekly workshop is held to teach with hands on practice of different procedures on manikins in the simulation lab.
vii) Clinical practice is instructed on the outpatients and inpatients.
viii) Students are involved in different research projects and allowed to present their research in the annual symposium.
